2013 YW Camp
I was called to be the camp director back in February. HOLY SMOKES! I tried to say no. Well I did say no and then said 'just tricken'. Of course I said y..yyee...yes.
About the beginning of March I was feeling SUPER overwhelmed. Not only did I already have a family, home, yard, etc. I was trying (notice I said trying) to take care of, I now had 4 church callings. I teach Sunday School each week, I am the RS coordinator, which means I plan all the "Home making" nights, and March was a huge one, the RS birthday dinner. (By the way I rocked it, I did the Price Is Right and it was fantastic!) I just got called as the Camp Director, and of Course my VT calling.
Needless to say I was in tears. I was pretty sure I was the only woman in our ward. I wanted to call the 2nd Counselor back and asked if he had really fasted and prayed for me to be camp director? Or I shoulda asked him if I was the first person he called? If I was...to try some other ladies and if he couldn't find anyone else to call me back, (then of course I coulda screened my calls).
Anyhoo, after the big birthday dinner was done, and I was able to attened the Temple a time or two. Things started to fall into place. And with some wonderful helpers, Girls Camp was a SUCCESS!
Our Theme Was SMILE Spiritually Minded Is Life Eternal. I wont go into to much detail cuz I'm pretty sick of camp stuff still, but I do want to say I have a Testimony of Jesus Christ, He is our Savior, He loves us, if we choose to SMILE, and make the best of what we have, and have faith in Him he will bless us in many more ways!
I truly enjoyed our group of girls! I was so worried we would have major girl drama and we had none!
Some of the crafts we did were SMILE blocks, paper sack journals, and we Tye-Dyed Shirts.
The last day we tubed the river.
But very best of all, the cute Mister Jeremy Nance took off three whole days of work and spent them at camp with us! That makes me SMILE just typing it!
We didn't do Secret Sisters (request from the YW President) So I had little handouts for the girls each day!
We had a SENSATIONAL guest speaker, Testimony meeting was wonderful. Besides the plague of mosquitoes during the day and the below freezing weather at night I can actually say I am grateful for the opportunity I had to be "Miss Inch" and that this calling has now expired! Hallelujah!
See ya love bye!
